Phoenix Rising is a made Pokémon RPG that reimagines the franchise in a new way focusing on story, RPG elements, and a fresh yet familiar look.
This project is one I started as teenager and vowed to release something for, no matter how long it took. Almost a decade later the team and I released a demo which now has over 1 million downloads. The game was built with the RPG Maker XP game engine.
I no longer work on the project and am no longer associated with it either.

About Development
I worked across the stack on this project, from programming, gameplay, game design, pixel art, UI design, project management and so on. The project went through various cycles as myself and the team improved our skills, and thus, the game. It was a hobbyist project which was given away for free. It is now maintained by a community of fans.
I was also responsible for the project direction. The team went through phases of having may people on the project, with up to 30 people working on it on a volunteer basis at it’s peak. This was a team of volunteer game developers which I managed during my free time.
Project development time
The first demo was released after 10 years of on-and-off development. The team changed over time, as did the game, but I remained with it until the first release before I decided I wanted to move onto other things.
